Calvin Elston, a Welsh born self published author of the story called The Beam.

Whilst serving in the British Army, he sadly lost his mother. This prompted him to create a piece of work, to inspire others. ‘Life is too short, to wonder What if?

Calvin is Dyslexic, which made his journey very difficult. He had to work extremely hard, dedicating extra time and focus to create a piece of written work. However, this has not deterred him. In fact, the drive and determination to inspire others who are also dyslexic, has pushed him forwards on his journey.

‘Beginning a story is always daunting, but don’t be put off by it. You’ll be surprised by your own creativity. Have faith in yourself.’

Calvin enjoys watching Anime, films and TV series. He also frequently attends he local gym. He believes that a healthy body helps strengthen the mind, through hard work and focus.

The Beam Part One was Calvin Elston’s debut book as a self published author, and he hopes that his readers enjoy the story, just as much has he has enjoyed writing it.

“I come from a small town called Merthyr Tydfil, in South Wales, and I went to school in a castle. No that doesn’t mean I’m Harry potter, and Cyfarthfa Castle was no Hogwarts I can tell you.”

“I served in the Royal Corps of Signals, in the British Army. It was during my service where I learnt how to become an engineer… And how to pose apparently. I mean honestly, look at that pout. I don’t know what I was thinking.”

“My wife and I are big fans of Disney, and managed to save enough money, to go to Disney world, in September 2023. It was amazing and we both look forward to going back there some day. Also, quick tip for you star wars fans, it’s like a dream come true. Trust me.”
