New Year, New Story

The thought of starting a new story can be daunting. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

Instead of thinking about your story in its entirety, I want you to focus on small bits at a time.

For example - Your story is about a character getting out of bed in the morning and fancies a cup of tea. They head down the stairs to discover that they are out of milk. So, they need to head to the local shop to get some more.

Try and focus on the first part of the story.

Whats the first thing they see when they open their eyes? Are they alone? What is in the room? What year is it?

You will be surprised how much information you ignore when you wake up.

Most importantly … Just start writing.

Tidying up your writing can wait. Edits and redrafts can be done later. Just start your story.

You don’t want to find yourself hesitating to the point where you never even begin.

Good luck, and give it a try.
